This night is so very silent
You can almost hear the snow fall
Gently the flakes are tumbling down
The snow drifts are so tall.
The snow is sparkling like diamonds
As the street lights take on an eerie glow
The colors of pink and blue can be seen
As I sit and gaze out the window.
No children are outside playing
The animals are snug in their nests
No footprints of any kind can be seen
Right now, we're winter's guest.
But when the morning comes
And the sun begins to rise
Activity will resume again
As everyone ventures outside.
To romp and play in the snow
Make snow angels here and there
Have snowball fights and go sledding
Because the snow is everywhere.
Enjoy the snow while you can
For soon it will be gone
There's beauty to be seen in it
Winter has its own song!
